Warner Schnakenberg, 86, of Independence, MO passed away July 5, 2011. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. with a 10:00 a.m. service to follow on Friday, July 8, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Cemetery in Concordia, MO on Friday. Warner was born March 27, 1925 in Concordia, MO to Martin and Pearl (Green) Schnakenberg. In 1985, Warner retired from Lake City Arsenal, where he had worked as a storekeeper for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #21. He had a passion for vegetable gardening as well as for Blue Grass music. Warner was preceded in death by one daughter, Amy Hudson; and five siblings, Elmer Schnakenberg, Mary Lee Voigt, Martin Jay Schnakenberg, Ruth Iiams and Betty Meineka. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lavon (Jones) Schnakenberg; one daughter, Cara Doromal; and five grandchildren.
