William Schornhorst

March 27, 1936 — April 4, 2008

William Richard “Dick” Schornhorst, 71, Independence, MO passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Forest Hill Cemetery; Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at Carson-Speaks Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to The Richard Schornhorst Memorial Fund c/o U.S. Bank, Independence, MO.
Richard was born April 27, 1936 in Blue Springs, MO to Henry J. Schornhorst and Lillian M. (Golding) Schornhorst. He worked for Olson Plumbing for thirty years and was also a Certified Master Custodian for the Independence School District. Richard loved fishing, hunting, camping and Gospel music. He was a member of the Calvary Sound Church.
Richard was preceded in death by a brother, David Schornhorst in 1998, two sons and his ex-wife. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carrie Elaine (Gray) Schornhorst, of the home; daughter Gladice Ellen Hawkins and husband Ed Wayne Hawkins; son Henry Boyd Schornhorst; grandsons Richard Wayne Hawkins and Benjamin Edward Hawkins, all of Independence, MO; his dogs, BJ & Cinnamon and cat, Duke; seven brothers: Frank Schornhorst and wife Esther, Concordia, MO; George Schornhorst and wife Arlow, Independence, MO; Jessie Schornhorst, Kansas City, MO; Wesley Schornhorst, Independence, MO; Jimmy Bryant, Panama City, FL; Mike Bryant, Lebanon, MO; Ronnie Bryant, Kansas; three sisters: Berniece Marshall, Stoutland, MO; Shirley Rogers; Christine Ward, both of Lebanon, MO; many nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
He will be sadly missed by everyone.
