Nancy Sue White Scott, 80, of Independence MO passed away peacefully on Nov. 15, 2015. Funeral Services will be Nov. 21 at 10:00 am at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Nov. 20. Nancy Sue was born June 3, 1935 to Robert Edward White and Lillian Christine (Davis) in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from West Plains High School where she was proud to be the marching band drum major. In December of 1951, while a senior in high school, she married John William Scott. Together they raised four children and remained happily married for almost 42 years until he passed away in September 1993. During their marriage she worked as a civilian employee of the United States Army at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant until a disability forced her to retire in 1973. After that she assisted her husband with a private security company.
Nancy Sue loved to be active in the community. She was a member of Anchor Point Baptist Church in eastern Independence. She was active in the Kansas City chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association volunteering at the local annual MDA telethons. She was a former member of the Independence Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS), served on the Independence Citizens with Disabilities Advisory Board and was an election judge for Jackson County. She loved to perform and spent many years as a greeter for the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. She played a friendly witch at the Enchanted Forest, and was involved in many performances with the City Theatre of Independence. Mostly she loved being with her family – as a devoted daughter, mother, grandma and great-grandma.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, and a son: Michael William Scott, in 1978. She is survived by three children: son, Patrick Franklin Scott of Baytown, TX; daughter, Suzie Claudine and husband Lewis Wolfe of Buckner, MO; and son, Kelly Kris Scott of Independence MO; as well as her brother, James (JJ) D. Franklin of Independence, MO; seven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will be missed by all who those who knew her including the nurses, aides, and staff at Carmel Hills Living Center in Independence MO.
Today she's with her mom, her grandmother, her firstborn son and her husband whom she loved for the past 65 years. She's rejoicing with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and seeing things that she's only been able to imagine from descriptions in the Bible. It's a sad time for us...but we take comfort in the fact that she had given her life to Christ years ago.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Anchor Point Baptist Church, 25501 E. Bundschu Road, Independence MO 64056.
