Services will be at 11 am, Thursday, Jan. 12 at the South Crysler Restoration Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ, 16101 E. Salisbury Rd., Independence, MO 64056. Visitation will begin at 10 am before the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Colorado Springs Restoration Branch c/o South Crysler Restoration Branch.
Bunny, as she was affectionately known to her many friends, was born April 7, 1918 in St. Ansgar, IA but as an infant moved to Lamoni, IA. There she attended Westside Elementary School where her mother, Pearl (Stubbart) Stafford taught. She graduated from Lamoni High School. She graduated from Graceland College (now University) and won the title of Miss Lamoni in 1938. There she met her future husband Glenn A. Scott, Jr. of Kansas City, MO. The couple married on July 19, 1941 at the Central Congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS). She was a member of the South Crysler Restoration Branch.
Bunny’s career included four years with Montgomery Ward and seven years at the Mid-Continent Public Library Administrative Offices in Independence, in addition to being a wife and mother. Her three sons were all active in Scouting and she had been a Girl Scout so the whole family loved camping and camped in most to the United States and Canada. After her sons married the couple bought a motor home and continued camping - even to Alaska. In 1998 the family all sailed from Vancouver to Hawaii. In 2002 after a lengthy illness they reluctantly sold the motor home which ended their camping days.
Bunny was active in the PTA and was President of the Clay County Pre-School Mothers Club. As President of the Clay County Garden Club she won many prizes for her flower arrangements. In 1973 the couple moved to Cleveland, OH for four years, then to Chicago, IL for six years. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 19, 2011. She had been a resident of Carmel Hills Health Center for the past year.
Bunny was preceded in death by her middle son Jon Douglas Scott and brother Dr. Richard H. Stafford. She is survived by husband Glenn A. Scott, Jr.; sons Eric B. Scott and wife Judy; Terry A. Scott and wife Chris, all of Independence, MO; sister Virginia (Stafford) Mischlich, Grand Junction, CO and four grandsons. She will be greatly missed by her family, relatives and host of friends.
