Clifford William Searcy, Sr., 84, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Monday, April 11, 2011. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 800 E. 101st Terr., Suite 150, Kansas City, MO 64131. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Clifford was born August 11, 1926 in Courtney, MO to Dewey and Letha (Bailey) Searcy before moving to Independence, MO when he was two years old. He was a dedicated employee at the Independence Foundry for 32 years. Mr. Searcy retired in 1989 after 13 years from National Foundry. Clifford enjoyed working in his garden and loved his family and grandchildren dearly. Mr. Searcy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years and ten months, Helen (Paris) Searcy; daughter Debbie Lafferty and husband Jerold; sons Namon Searcy and wife Connie, Cliff Searcy, Jr.; six grandchildren Chad and Jeremy Searcy, Kerri Rees, Julie Crismon, Crystal Lafferty, Nichol Lafferty; nine great-grandchildren Caleb Crismon, Hailey Searcy, Emilee Rees, Chase, Kolt, Hannah and Claire Searcy, Gauge Sortore, Arieonna Allen; brother Wayne Searcy; and by his loving four legged best friend Mitzzie. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill and Dewey Searcy; sisters Mary Searcy, Jenneave Thurman and husband John. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the care provided to Clifford from Odyssey Hospice and the staff at the Independence Rehabilitation Center.
