Jacqueline J. Shakespeare, 75, of Independence, MO passed away after a short illness on May 5, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on May 8, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the RLDS Oblation Fund, 1001 W. Walnut, Independence, MO 64050. Jacqueline was born March 24, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa to Maurice and Julia (Miller) Spence. In 1954, she graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee, Iowa. She then attended Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa. Jacqueline was married to Carl LeRoy Shakespeare on September 15, 1956. Throughout their lives, they lived in Grinell, Iowa, Red Oak, Iowa, Duluth, Minnesota and Independence, MO. She had several occupations including with a telephone company, accountant, and was a restaurant manager. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Yvonne (Spence) Bartel. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Carl Shakespeare; one son, Bryon L. Shakespeare and wife BJ; one daughter, Bobbi A. Govro and husband Mark; nine grandchildren, Mandy D. Lemcke, Brandon L. Shakespeare, Shawna N. Nethers, Haley M. Sherrow, Jamie L. Sherrow, Cody W. Valle, Wyatt A. Valle, Daniel L. Govro and Lauren A. Govro; four great grandchildren, Johnathan, Dylan, Marissa and Dayton; one sister, Delores Huisenga; and one brother, Bruce Spence. Jacqueline was a member of the RLDS Church, and was interested in family history and genealogy. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and we were blessed to have had the gift of her presence in our lives.
