Marie Shank

Marie C. Shank, 97, Independence, MO peacefully went to be with the Lord July 19, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Friday, July 23, 2010 at The Fountains, 2100 Swope Drive, Independence, MO 64057. In accordance with Marie’s wishes, her body was donated K.U. Medical Center for medical research. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Odyssey Hospice, 800 E. 101st Terr. Ste. 150, Kansas City, MO 64131-5308.
- Hanover, Germany. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was twelve and she soon became an American citizen. Marie loved her German heritage but was very proud to be an American. She graduated from Graceland College. She was a secretary and at various times worked for Clark Manufacturing in Atherton, at the Central Professional Building and the Stone Church. She was a member of the Blue Springs Remnant Branch. She spent a lot of time doing volunteer work at the church. She also loved being around her family and friends and spent as much time with them as she could.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Frank R. Shank. She is survived by son Dan Shank and wife Joy, Johnston, IA; daughter Charlene Sears and husband Chuck, Bates City, MO; grandchildren Coby Shank and wife Brenda, Des Moines, IA; Tatum Shank and wife Jennifer, Burbank, CA; Brian Sears and wife Amy, Rapid City, SD; Carla Letzig and husband Joe, Bates City, MO; Jared Sears and wife Courtney; Kate Sollars and husband Matt, all of Oak Grove, MO; Derick Burke and wife Katrina, Overland Park, KS; Will Sears, Bates City, MO; great-grandchildren Caylee, Briana, Joshua, Tyler, Jordan, Madison, Abby, Noah, Ella Grace, Lili, and Harrison.
