Blue Springs

Shannon Lawrence Etter, age 56, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on Monday, August 14th at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 25th from 6-8 PM at the Carsons-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, Missouri 64052. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 26th also at the Carsons-Speaks Chapel, followed by burial at Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.

Shannon was born to Wauthena & Ted Etter on February 24th, 1967 in Independence, Missouri and was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. He was a 1986 graduate of William Chrisman High School and attended DeVry University, finally earning his degree in 1997. Shannon met the love of his life, Kelly Etter in 1987 and they were married on September 16th, 1989 in Independence, Missouri. Although he never had any biological children, he had many “kids” who he loved dearly.

Shannon spent his life caring for everyone he loved. He worked in the IT industry his whole life and was an expert in his field. He was the epitome of a “Jack of All Trades”. He could build you a house, fix your car, redo your home’s entire electrical service better than it ever had been, or build you a custom PC. He made the absolute BEST scrambled eggs. He loved blues music and Johnny Cash. He started working as an Instructor at Vatterott College in 1997, and eventually created and was promoted to Head of the IT Department. Many of his students have gone on to have successful IT careers. Some would say he taught them everything they knew. He started his own business, Innovative Computer Services, in 1994 in a small shop in Independence, Missouri and provided invaluable services to several clients until passing away at much too early an age.

Shannon was preceded in death by his Mother, Wauthena and his beloved boy … dogs, Toby & Tucker.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Kelly of the home, sister Cherilyn Curnett (Ken) of Cross Timbers, Missouri. Father Ted Etter of Melbourne, Florida. His beloved Niece Laura Kramm (Matt) with Great Nieces Layla & Loralei & Great Nephews Alex & Jameson of Clinton, Missouri. His beloved Niece Anna Curnett (Jake Heese) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. His beloved Niece Sami Jackson (Jesse) (and Shannon’s Great Nephew-on-the-way, Jameson) of Lees’s Summit, Missouri. His beloved Nephew Levi Vacca (Haley More) of Belton, Missouri. His Beloved Nephew Justin Weddle of Independence, Missouri. His beloved Niece Hailey Vacca with Great Niece Kaydence & Great Nephew Wyatt of Houston, Texas. His beloved Host Daughter Anatasia Temnikova of Moscow, Russia. His loyal canine companions Tanner & Roxy. He also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & friends who loved him.
