Sharon V. Bright 88 of Orlando, FL, formerly of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026 at her residence. Sharon was born December 11, 1937 in Independence, MO to George C. and Josephine (Wilkerson) Cueni and was a longtime resident of the Independence area. Sharon or “Mrs. B”, as she was known had worked for the City of Blue Springs in the codes department for over 20 years. Upon her retirement the mayor proclaimed her final day as “Sharon Bright Day”. After retirement she and her husband moved to a model community called Hunters Creek in Orlando, FL. where she became involved in the homeowner’s association where she gained immense popularity and respect. She loved working on the homeowner’s board and spending time at the pool with her husband in her spare time. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Paul Bright of the home; she and her husband had 5 children, together, Dale Harris and wife Kathy, Linda Connor, Carla Koop and husband Dennis, Mike Bright and wife Joy and Rick Bright and wife Jennifer; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence with burial to follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the chapel.
