Sharon Kay McBroom, 77, of Independence, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 08, 2024. She was born on March 23, 1947, in Woodbine, IA to Richard and Mary (Kelly) Anderson. Sharon was a committed follower of Christ and raised her two sons to know the Lord as well. She knew how to love and to laugh; and she shared that with all those who came into her life. Sharon enjoyed traveling, including trips to Dallas to see her youngest son and grandkids and to Des Moines to see her oldest son coach volleyball. Sharon also enjoyed trips to Branson, MO and was a big fan of Daniel O’Donnel. Sharon was a life-long advocate of education and received her Associate Degree as an adult from Longview Community College where she was also employed for several years prior to retirement. On Sunday afternoons in the fall, she would be found cheering on her Kansas City Chiefs! She treasured family gatherings with her larger extended family that included Christmas, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and numerous card-playing parties with her siblings.
Her family meant everything to her and she will be deeply missed by them. She is survived by her two sons Darrin (Elisa) McBroom and Brian (Liz) McBroom, grandkids Nathan McBroom, Ian McBroom, and Cassandra McBroom, siblings Eula Parsons, Marilyn (Rudy) Hoffarth, Duane (Charlotte) Anderson, Eddie (Carolyn) Malcolm, Jeanette (Kenny) Hay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Darrel McBroom, her parents Richard and Mary Anderson, and sister Velma Wallace. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm-8:00pm on Wednesday June 12, 2024, at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th St S Independence, MO 64055) with her service starting at 10:00am on Thursday June 13, 2024, and burial at Mound Grove Cemetery immediately following the service.
