Shawn Anthony Zander was born on March 23, 1965 in Independence, Missouri. He passed away on August 15, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. Shawn was born to David Zander and Earlene (Plummer) McPherson.
When Shawn was little he would dress up in his cowboy outfit, guns and all and ride on his rocking horse or go outside and chase the neighbor’s dog in his cowboy outfit. He also liked playing with his Hot Wheels and Tonka trucks making roadways out of his Nannies table covers.
Later in his high school years he spent many nights cruising Noland Road. In later years he started collecting eagles showcasing his appreciation for the beauty of these majestic birds. In his spare time he was a man of many hobbies; his greatest pleasure was playing pool and going to Pomme De Terre Lake and fishing with his cousin, David Earl, when possible or swimming or often seen dancing.
Shawn enjoyed a career that brought him both joy and camaraderie. He dedicated many years of his life working at Station Casino as a card dealer, where he created connections with patrons and colleagues alike. Later he worked for KC Auto Auction where he enjoyed having the opportunity to drive a large variety of cars, even some special ones.
Shawn’s life was filled with cherished memories and heartfelt connections.
Shawn is survived by his children, Nick Etheridge, Taylor Zander and Justin Zander; mother, Earlene McPherson and step-father, James "Mike" McPherson and 10 grandchildren.
