Christi Sheehy-Zerr, 62, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at her home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 in the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Neighbors. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Christi was born April 28, 1948 in Sharon, PA to David and Ruth (Jones) Sheehy. She was a 1966 graduate of Truman High School. Mrs. Sheehy-Zerr went on to earn her associates degree from Graceland College and her bachelors degree from the University of Kansas. Christi was an ER nurse for 30 years before retiring. First and foremost in her life was family. She was a very focused and devoted mother and homemaker. Christi was the President of the PTA while her kids were in school, was active in the Woman’s Auxiliary at Independence Regional Health Center, and was an active volunteer in the community, including time with the Bingham Waggener Estate. She was proud of her two sons who each earned their Eagle Scout. Mrs. Sheehy-Zerr enjoyed reading and hosting family gatherings in her spare time. Christi lead a strong Christian life. She is survived by her children, Jonathan Zerr and wife Kris, Ethan Zerr and wife Leigh Ann, Amby Zerr; granddaughters Kaitlyn and Jillian Zerr; mother Ruth Sheehy; sister Nan Ingham and husband Mike; former husband Dr. Charles Zerr; and by a host of cousins and special friends. Christi was preceded in death by her father David Sheehy.
