Edilee “Edie” Sheets, 75, of Independence, MO made her transition on Friday, February 5, 2010 at her home. A Celebration of her life will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. Private inurnment at Mound Grove Cemetery. A gathering of friends will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Acquaint Gathering, 512 Capelle St., Grain Valley, Mo 64029. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Harvester’s. Edie was born September 2, 1934 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of George and Lamona (Bollinger) Lyons. She grew up in Odessa and lived in Independence most of her life. Ms. Sheets was a member of Unity Village Chapel. She volunteered at the Vaile Mansion for many years and cherished the friends she made there. Edie’s favorite pastimes were visiting with family and friends, working jigsaw puzzles and keeping up with her two feline “kids” Sophie and Bud. Ms. Sheets was known for her talent in writing short stories. Edie is survived by her daughters Belinda Newill and husband Earl, Cheryl Ellis and husband John, Virginia Calvin and husband Bill; grandchildren Christopher Cox, Matthew Gosling, Ali Gregath, Jessica and Cody Newill, and Sydney and Brett Calvin; great-grandson Mason Cox. She will be dearly missed and held close in our hearts forever.
