Ms. Roletta Sheldon, 93, passed away September 18, 2010 at Manor Care of Overland Park, KS. She was born on her family's Cockrell, Mo farm on June 9, 1917 to Rolla Ellisworth and Goldie Eunice Wolfe. Ms. Sheldon was the mother to four children, grandmother to seventeen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her tireless work ethic, one that continues to be evident in the successes of her children and grandchildren. Ms. Sheldon enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Elks Lodge #26 of Kansas City, MO where she was honored and served as Doe's President for one year. Ms. Sheldon enjoyed crocheting for her family and always had a book by her side. Her family will especially miss her many delicious home cooked meals - she was known in her many years to create food with love. Ms. Sheldon was preceded in death by daughters Helen Seymour and Catherine Burns, step-son Eugene Kates, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her brother, R.E. (Norma) Wolfe, son, Benjamin G. (Kay) Kates, daughter, Mary Skudlarek and step-daughter Barbara Lalla. Visitation will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 425 W. 85th Street, Kansas City, MO from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at the church. Carson-Speaks Midtown Chapel Funeral Home, 1501 W Lexington, Independence, MO 64052 has been entrusted with final arrangements.
