Stephen L. Shelton, 75, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 14 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13 at the chapel. Burial at Greenton Cemetery, Odessa, MO. Stephen was born September 10, 1936 in Maryville, MO to Elmer Levi and Pearl Branson. He served as an operator engineer at Local 101 for many years. Stephen was a true outdoorsman and also loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Caroline Shelton (Cobb) of 32 years; son Steve W. Shelton; daughter Linda Stussy; daughter Becky Hobbs; son Dennis Allred; daughter Kathy Hearron (Tom); daughter Rhonda Welsh (Bill); 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Daniel Shelton.
