Sue Shelton

Sue Ann Shelton, 71, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 7 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence. Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Chapel with graveside services beginning at 1:00 PM at Gilead Cemetery in Norbourne, MO.
Sue was born Sept. 15, 1937 in Joplin, MO to Ralph and Wilma (McGowen) Starr. She grew up in Kansas City, graduating from Manuel High School. She married John “Jack” Shelton and together raised three children. Sue loved to laugh and enjoyed life, but more than anything she adored her family.
Sue was preceded in death by her sisters: Mary Vernon, Sherry Wisdom, Barbara Hamilton, and Linda Brasel. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack Shelton; son Randy Shelton; daughter Deanna Zehnder and husband Mitch; daughter Rhonda Hayes and husband Bill; seven grandchildren: Tina, Anthony, Cole, Brooke, Delanie, Dallas, and Dakota; two great-grandchildren: Donavynn and Brian Jr.; and siblings: Leon Starr and Loretta York.
