Alpha Sherman

Alpha R. Sherman, 92, Independence, MO passed away Nov. 9, 2009. Services will be 10 am, Wed., Nov. 11, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6- 8 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Alpha was born Aug. 26, 1917 in Independence and was a life-long resident. She was a charter member of Gudgell Park Community Of Christ congregation. Over her eighty years as a member, she had served as a girls’ director, Bible School teacher and was very involved in women’s activities. She worked at the American Plastics plant for twenty-five years and retired in 1982. She was a member of the Gem & Mineral Society of Kansas City, the Ditzy Dames Chapter of the Red Hat Society and T.O.P.S. Chapter #24 of Independence.
Alpha was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Sherman. She is survived by daughters Joan Wallace, Blue Springs, MO; Patricia Chadwick and husband Harold, Odessa, MO; Barbara Shupe and husband Ron, Independence, MO; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild
