Thomas M. Sherman, 92, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away April 18, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm, Friday, April 24, 2009 at Ridgewood Community of Christ, 4341 Blue Ridge Blvd., K.C., MO 64133. Private committal services were held at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Outreach International.
Tom was born Sept. 1, 1916 in Independence, MO. He attended William Jewell College and the University of Missouri �" Columbia. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He worked in sales management at Armco Steel for thirty-three years and retired in 1980. Tom was very active in the Community of Christ and served his church in many capacities. He served as pastor to the Blue Ridge, Far View Heights, Colburn Road and South Crysler Congregations. He also served the Community of Christ as a member of the Standing High Council, President of the Board of Publications for Herald Publishing House, Contractual Assignee and Coordinator of the Volunteer Program. He was listed in the Who’s Who Publication, served on the Health Education and Advisory Board for the City of Lee’s Summit and received the Lifetime Volunteer Service Award.
Tom is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years Vera Sherman, of the home and many friends.
