Mary Louise Shields, 58, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Mary was born January 15, 1953 in Pontiac, IL the daughter of Melvin and Monica (Goff) Tucker. She was a 1971 graduate of MDR High School in Minonk, IL and attended Eastern Illinois University. She married William Shields on June 16, 1973 in Minonk, IL. Together they moved to Kansas City in 1999. Mary was employed with Carpenter & Company for eight years. She enjoyed quilting, collecting cookbooks and cooking. Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband Bill Shields of the home; daughter, Melissa Shields of Quincy, IL; sons, Ben Shields of Kansas City, MO and Tyler Shields of Independence, MO; brothers, Jim and Joe Tucker; sister, Dr. Martha Walke and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
A memorial celebration gathering will be from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at The Pavilion; 14831 E. U.S. 40 Hwy, Kansas City, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Kansas City; 1111 Main St. Suite 450, Kansas City, MO 64105.
