Shirley Mae Collins, 79 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024 at the East Independence Church of Christ 2020 Rte 291, Independence, MO 64057. The family will greet with friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Shirley was born February 6, 1945 in Deepwater, MO and graduated from Deepwater High School before relocating to the Independence area. She had worked as an CNA and most recently a cashier for Walmart for several years until she retired. She loved working in the yard, feeding the squirrels and birds. Crocheting and selling her crafts with her daughter and granddaughter at craft shows under the name 3 Generation Crafters. She was an avid sports fan and loved her Kansas City Chiefs and Royals! But her most loved hobby was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She was married to John I. Collins until his passing in 2013. Survivors include; 2 daughters, Regina Priest and husband Alan of Warrensburg, MO and Cheryl Moore and husband Lonny of Independence, MO; a brother, Gene Karr of Kansas City, MO; 5 grandchildren, Adam (Whitney), Dylan (Marissa), Amber (Luke), Cassie (Justin) and Lucas and 4 great grandchildren, Owen, Willow, Emery and Reuben.
