Dorothy Shirley

Dorothy M. Shirley, 88, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, January 17, 2010 at KU Medical Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street Independence, MO 64055. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Dorothy was born December 10, 1921 in Kansas City, MO to Robert and Anna Fenson and has been a lifelong area resident, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1941. She had worked as a secretary and later office manager for her husband’s State Farm Insurance Agency until she retired in 1983. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, fishing and most of all traveling. She was married to Paul E. Shirley, he survives. Other survivors include; a daughter, Sherrie Grice and husband Edward, and a son, Michael Shirley and his wife Karen.
