Lucie Short

Lucie M. Short, 62, Independence, MO passed away Feb. 6, 2009. Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, Feb. 10 at New Hope Baptist Church. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at the church. Private committal services will take place later at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO. The family suggests contributions to the Lucie Short Memorial Fund c/o New Hope Baptist Church, 1800 E. Lexington, Independence, MO 64058.
Lucie was born June 4, 1946 in Greenwood, MO. She was a member of the church for over thirty-three years and was very active there. She founded a children’s ministry group called the Happy Face Club, wrote the church newsletter for a time and also served with her husband, Frank, ministering to shut-ins for twelve years.
Lucie was preceded in death by her sister Wanda Yarber. She is survived by her husband Frank Short, of the home; son Larry Short and wife Angela, Olathe, KS; daughter Valerie Orick and husband Ron; brother Delbert Jeffrey and wife Janet, all of Blue Springs, MO; sister Barbara Nash, Bolivar, MO; and three grandchildren.
