Edwin Dale Shupe, 88, of Buckner, MO passed away Thursday, September 24th, 2015. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am Tuesday, September 29th at Speaks Buckner Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 11:00am at Buckner Hill Cemetery with honors.
Edwin was born March 25, 1927 in Independence, MO to Joseph Dale and Mildred Iola (Griffen) Shupe. He graduated from Hall Memorial High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served during WWII. He returned to marry his beloved Shirley (Pence) on October 4th, 1946. He owned numerous businesses in Buckner including a TV Repair Shop, Sinclair Gas Station, a used car lot, and Cozy Corner restaurant. He was a personnel manager at Lyon’s Die Casting until his retirement in 1985. He was also a Charter Member of VFW Post 8101 in Buckner as well as a member of the Ft. Osage High Athletic Hall of Fame. Ed was an active man who enjoyed playing Golf, traveling to Vegas, playing cards with friends, and eating some good home cookin’! He was a faithful Christian and a long time member of The Church of Jesus Christ Buckner Restoration Branch. His family remembers him as social, outspoken, and a good ole boy. He is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include grandsons, Jason C. Baker; LtCdr. Kyle J. Baker (Amanda); and Garrett D. Baker; son-in-law, Garry J. Baker; brother, Ron Shupe (Barbara); four great grandchildren; nephew, Larry Shupe (Lisa); niece, Sherri Hartnett (Kent); and numerous great nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife; daughter, Patricia Jo Baker; and son, Gary Dale Shupe.
