Norman Harold Sickles, 79 of Independence, MO passed away, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Liberty Hospital. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will be in Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to Stand Up To Cancer or to Liberty Hospice. Norman was born August 22, 1935 in Canonsburg, PA to Thomas Harold and Sarah Elizabeth (Strike) Sickles. He graduated from public schools in PA and enlisted in the US Air Force and proudly served for 9 years. He had worked for 36 years at TWA as a jet mechanic before he retired in 2002. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and most of all spending time with his daughter in laws and grandchildren. He was Baptist by faith and attended Bethel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in North KC. Survivors include; his loving wife of 56 years, Joan of the home; 3 sons, Donald Sickles and his wife Terri of Richmond, MO, Ronald Sickles of Independence, MO and Steven Sickles and his wife Shannon of Independence, MO; a sister, Sarah Ruth Miles of Washington, PA; a brother, Thomas Sickles of Virginia; 7 grandchildren, Derek (Kristen), Thomas, Cody, Scott, Stevon, Sam and Sarah; 2 great grandchildren, Connor and Bryce and his 2 dogs, Lucky and Allie. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Schneider in 1996 and 2 brothers, Jack and Jim Sickles.
