William L. “Bill” Sigman, 86, Independence, MO celebrated his home going Sept. 3, 2011. Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment with Full Military Honors at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the American Heart and Stroke Assoc., 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212-1461.
Bill was born Aug. 29, 1925 and graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines in WW II and of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He retired from the Independence Parks & Recreation Dept. and had previously worked at Grebb X-Ray and TWA. He was a member of the Country Club Christian Church, American Legion Post #21, the Independence Tennis Assoc. and was a founder of the Kansas City Ski Club. Bill especially loved to play tennis.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Betty Sigman and brother Donald Sigman. He is survived by daughter Vicki Kelley, Lee’s Summit, MO; son Scott Sigman and wife Debbie, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Alison Kelley,
Andrew Kelley, Brandon Sigman and Rebecca Sigman. Bill is also survived by his “lady love” Helen White, Lee’s Summit, MO.
