Mildred F. Simmons, 81 of Independence, MO, passed away, Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in the Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Kansas City Hospice. Mildred was born April 6, 1926 in Elkton, MD to Gifford and Frances (Beaumont) Gregson. Millie spent her early life in Maryland and graduated from high school in Newark, DE and had attended college at the University of Delaware. Mrs. Simmons worked as audiovisual technician for the Mid-Continent Library in Independence, MO. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking and was an active member of the Farview Restoration Branch Church serving as the Women’s Leader. She was married to William G. Simmons on January 14, 1950; he survives of the home. Other survivors include; 4 sons, David Simmons and his wife Millie of Riverside, CA, Michael Simmons and his wife Joyce of Seymour, MO, Duane Simmons and his wife Susan and Tim Simmons and his wife Kim all of Independence, MO; a brother, William Gregson and his wife Mary of Independence, MO; a sister-in-law Louise Gregson of Oak Grove, MO; 12 grandchildren, Melissa Simmons, Sarah Simmons, Matthew Simmons, Justin Simmons, Krista Chavis and husband Jason, Luke Montgomery, Austin Seber, Rene Kroesen and husband Joel, Katie Mulheron and husband Jared, Mindy Simmons, Jeffrey Simmons and wife Lindsey, and Christopher Simmons; 3 great-grandchildren Autumn and Weston Kroesen and Adrianne Simmons. She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Gregson and a granddaughter, Jennifer Simmons.
