Mae Simms

Mae Joan Simms, 76, Independence, MO passed away at her home May 1, 2011. Services will be at 10 am, Wed., May 4, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 am before the service.
Joan was born April 2, 1935 in Lebanon, MO. Her family moved to Independence where she grew up and spent the rest of her life. She was a bartender and over the years had worked at the Frontier Club, Old Mill and most recently at the Eagles Lodge of Independence for the past ten years. She enjoyed gardening her flowers and shopping at garage sales but most of all loved her family and grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. She is survived by son Robert Simms and wife Carol; daughter Barbara Morris, all of Independence, MO; sister Lorene Weaver, Raytown, MO; brother Donald Biggs, Sr.; sister Joyce Suhr, both of Independence, MO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
