Robert “Bob” Ray Sims, 80, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at Susquehanna Assembly of God Church, 622 N. Jennings Rd., Independence, MO 64056. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Burial in Salem Cemetery. Bob was born March 28, 1930 in Canton, IL to Ray Douglas and Vivian Flossie (Souders) Sims. He was united in marriage on December 31, 1948 to Wanda Rose Heishman. He owned and operated RR Sims Construction Company from 1952-1998. Mr. Sims enjoyed spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, wintering in Mesa, AZ and playing bocce ball. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Wanda Sims; children Sharon Grammer and husband Jack, Doug Sims and wife Wetta, Karen Sims; 11 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Bobby Ray; three grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
