Carlotta Alice (Ballantyne) Sinclair died at Kansas City Research Hospital on November 19, 2012. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8 p.m. November 23, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W Lexington Ave Independence MO. Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24 at the Groves Community Room; 1515 W White Oak Ave, Independence. Private burial will be at Floral Hills in Kansas City, MO.
Carlotta was born on March 9, 1925, in Page, Nebraska, the daughter of John O. and Emma Ballantyne. Carlotta graduated as a Registered Nurse from Graceland College, doing her training at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital. She married Clarence Bruce Sinclair of Independence in 1947, who preceded her in death in 1980. She lived most of her life in Independence, MO and Little Rock, AR. A life long member of the Community of Christ, Carlotta attended the Gudgell Park, East 39th Street, and The Groves congregations in Independence. She is survived by three children, Susan Himmell of Liberty, IL; Scott Sinclair of St. Louis, MO; and Sherry Fase of Parkville, MO. She is also survived by one brother, Jim Ballantyne of Independence, MO; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Robert, Roy, and Norris Ballantyne; and half sister, Faye Irene Bush. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations in her name to Vitas Hospice 4041 S. Lynn Ct.
