Edgar Leslie “Les” Sinnett, 82, Warsaw, MO resident, formerly of Independence, passed away at his winter home in Mercedes, TX. Les was born August 31, 1926 in Higginsville, MO to Loid and Allie (Fortner) Sinnett. Following graduation from Higginsville High School he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII on the U.S.S. Saggus and U.S.S. Fixity. He and Linda Foster were united in marriage on February 22, 1963 and then moved to Independence. Les was employed as an inspector by General Motors at the Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, KS for 35 years before his retirement in 1985. In 2000, he and Linda moved to Warsaw, MO where he loved to crappie fish and watch wildlife. In Texas he loved to play beanbags and earned a first place medal which was his pride and joy. Les was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw and a member of the Southwest Missouri UAW Retirees.
Les is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Sinnett; three sons and their wives: Michael Leslie and Barbara of Gladstone, MO, Mark F. and Francine of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Brian Leslie and Patty of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mildred Frances Ziems; and three brothers: Clyde Russell, Edward LeRoy, and John Everet.
A visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 PM Friday, November 7 at Speaks Suburban Chapel with services beginning at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be at 3:30 PM at Higginsville City Cemetery.
