In loving memory of Charles “Chuck” Sisler, 74, of Independence, MO, the renowned architect and homebuilder went home to the Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House after a long battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deloris L. Sisler, his son Curtis C. Sisler and daughter-in-law Catherine of Lee’s Summit, MO, his daughter Kellie L. Sisler and her three sons Stephen, Nicholas, and Noah of Pittsburg, KS, his brother Rev. C. David Shisler and sister-in-law Lillis of Trenton, SC. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles E. and Florence E. Shisler, also his sister Eleanor Griffin. Chuck was born in Buffalo, NY, and moved to the Kansas City area in the mid-1960’s inspired by his grandfather’s carpentry in many of the old hotels in Kansas City. His gift for designing one-of-kind homes led him to be recognized throughout his 40+ year career in the home building industry with several awards, magazine/newspaper articles, and gratitude from his customers. He especially loved traveling with his wife and friends, spoiling his grandsons, and playing golf whenever he could. A celebration of the Chuck’s life will be held on Thursday, September 8, starting 6:00 pm at Maywood Baptist Church, 10505 E. Winner Rd., Independence, MO. His final resting place will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later time.
