Connie Slead

Connie Sue Slead, 57, Independence, MO, died January 14, 2008, at the University of Kansas Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. with visitation immediately following from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the KU Endowment. Connie was preceded in death by her father, A. Joseph Rhodes. Survivors include the love of her life and best friend of 42 years, Larry; mother, Marjorie Rhodes, age 91; daughter Kim Martinez and husband Jeff, daughter Stacy Parsons and husband Todd, and son Shawn Slead and girlfriend Becky Wright; grandchildren Brett, Justin, Lauren, Lucas, Cole, Katelyn and Brooke. Connie had a tough and fighting spirit and was an inspiration to anyone who knew her. She will always be loved and alive in our hearts.
