Karel Sloezen

Karel Sloezen, 74, of Blue Springs, MO passed away June 17, 2010 at his home. A service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Karel was born May 3, 1936 in Amsterdam, Holland to Karl and Anthonia (DeVries) Sloezen. He lived in the Kansas City area since 1970 and had been a chemical engineer and plant manager for Bayer Corp., before retiring in 1999. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Phyllis Jane Sloezen. He is survived by his two daughters, Gail Overly and husband Robert of Lee’s Summit, MO and Phyllis Cottingham and husband Reed of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Brent Overly, Samantha Cottingham and Ashley Cottingham.
