Bert Smith

Bert F. Smith, 93, long time resident of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012. He passed from this life from natural causes and a longing to be with his wife of 67 years, Ida, who went to be with the Lord two years ago. Bert worked as a tool and die machinist at Green Jewelry Company for over 50 years. Bert is survived by his daughter, Shirley Hogue and husband Don; two grandsons, Todd Hogue, Preston Hogue and wife Laurel; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Conlan and Elise; as well as two brothers, Earl and Charles Smith. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A procession to the graveside will then take place for a 2:30 p.m. graveside service at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
