Burnice Smith

January 16, 1920 — April 12, 2013

Burnice M. Smith, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, April 12th. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16th at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th Street, Independence, MO. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at Hermitage Cemetery, Hermitage, MO.
Burnice was born January 18th, 1920 to Charley and Cora Miller at Cross Timbers, MO. She spent most of her life in Missouri and retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant after working there for twenty years. She was a member of Sterling Acre Baptist Church in Independence. Burnice and Leonard “Smitty” Smith were married January 12th, 1981. He passed in 1999. Burnice leaves behind one sister, Juanita and her husband Junior Ellis of Joplin, MO; dozens of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and many friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, and six siblings, Jewell Hart, Mabel Lear, Faye Dickenson, Betty Scott, and Archie and Raymond Miller.
