Dolores "Jeanne" Smith (Adams)

Dolores “Jeanne” Smith, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 4, 2023. She was 78 years old. Jeanne was the only child born to the late Robert O. and Vivian A. Adams on June 25, 1944.

Jeanne spent most of her young life in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Raytown High School. She married her husband, John M. Smith in 1961 settling in Lee’s Summit until his passing in 2014. Jeanne worked many years as a legal assistant, although her true love and talent was decorating and gardening – even winning many Lee’s Summit gardening/yard awards. Her yard and flowers on Raintree Lake was her favorite hobby and enjoyed by many that passed by. Her family will always have fond memories of her beautiful and extensive Christmas decorations. Additionally she enjoyed her friendships and involvement with the Raintree Lake Garden Club, Lee’s Summit Historical Society, reunion planning and many other clubs/civic activities.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband John M. Smith and son Monty R. Smith. She is survived by her daughter Machelle (Tim) Seiler, sons Mike (Tonya) Smith and Mark (Karen) Smith. She was “Mamaw” to 7 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Adam Seiler, Allison Denton, Tyler Smith, Trevor Smith, Tanner Smith, Kyleigh Smith and Jaeden Smith. She also was blessed with 3 (and one on the way) great-grandchildren: Jax Smith, Briar Smith and Lainey Denton.

A graveside service will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on May 16, 2023 at 9:00am. A celebration of life will follow at Raintree Lake Clubhouse from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
