Flossie A. Smith, 97, Independence, MO died Feb. 3, 2007 at her home. Services will be 2 pm, Friday, at the First Church of God, 220 E. Elm, Independence; interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Missionary Society, First Church of God, 220 E. Elm, Independence, MO 64050.
Flossie was born June 11, 1909 in Iuka, KS. She was a cook in the cafeteria at William Chrisman High School for 14 years. She was also very active in her church where she taught Sunday school for many years, was a member of the Missionary Society, and was a past treasurer.
Flossie was preceded in death by husbands, Paul T. Miller in 1945 and Sam Smith in 1985; and daughter Patricia R. Norman in 1997. She is survived by daughters Donna Sedge and husband Wayne, Arlington, TX; Joyce Egner and husband Phil, Independence; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
