Ida Mae Smith, 90, of Independence, MO passed April 15, 2010. Visitation from 9-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO, followed by a graveside at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Mrs. Smith was born July 9, 1919 in Blanche, MO to Jack and Lizzie (Walker) Parsons. She is survived by her loving husband, Bert Smith; and daughter, Shirley Hogue and husband Don; two grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Finley. She and Bert were married February 24, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey. She worked as a seamstress for Gay Gibson in Kansas City, MO, and other garment companies for 35 years. She then worked for Johnson County Community College for three years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Northland Pentecostal Church of God. Ida will be dearly missed.
