M. Troy Smith

M. Troy Smith, 38, of Independence, MO passed away on Thursday, November 18th at North Kansas City Hospital. Services will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 22nd at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 3-5:00 pm Sunday at the chapel. Interment in Mound Grove Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Troy was born June 5, 1966 in Kansas City, MO to Lawrence and Karen (Gaither) Smith. Troy was a friend to all and didn�t know a stranger. He was quick witted, always had a joke to tell and was one of the best at playing "Name That Tune�. Troy had a strong belief in God, was tender hearted and was a very giving person. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Melissa (Hunsel) of the home; daughters Raeanna Lee, Megan Jade and Mackenzie Peace Smith; mother and step-father Karen and Mervin Harper of Independence, MO; sister and brother-in-law Rhonda and Craig McArthur of Independence, MO; brothers-in-law Michael Hunsel of Lathrop, MO, Kenneth Hunsel of Grandview, MO, Dale Hunsel Johnson of Overland Park, KS; sister-in-law Shirley Jean Swope of Grandview, MO; grandmother and step-grandfather Violet and James Gaither; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Troy was preceded in death by his father Larry Smith in 1981.
