Marvin Smith

Marvin C. Smith, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 800 101st Terr., Suite 150, Kansas City, MO 64131. Marvin was born September 25, 1922 in Cato, AR to James M. and Alma (Webb) Smith. He retired from the Independence Fire Department in 1979. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce R. (Hawkins) Smith; son Doug Smith and his friend Theresa Marsh; brother James Leonard Smith.
