Melissa Kay Smith (Hunsel)

Melissa Smith, 54, of Independence, MO, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, MO.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO, 64088, 816-373-3600. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday following the visitation at the chapel with burial at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO. Melissa Kay Smith was born to Richard and Linda Hunsel in St. Charles Missouri. On February 14, 1989, she married the love of her life Michael Troy Smith. Melissa worked as a nurse and was also a foster parent.

Melissa leaves behind her brothers Bob Hunsel and Dale Johnson, as well as her sister Shirley Swope. She also leaves behind her daughters Megan and Mackenzie Smith and grandson Kadon Chester.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Raeanna Smith, and two brothers Michael and Kenny Hunsel.
