Michael Gene "Mike" Smith

In loving memory of Michael Gene Smith ( 10/20/1961-7/24/2015).
Born in Independence, MO to parents Eugene & Annelise Smith.
He attended Fort Osage schools and had worked in the Optical Lab field for 30 years.
He married his first love, Joyce Mae Hedberg in 1982 and they had a daughter, Leah Nichelle Smith born Sept 13th, 1982.
He remarried in 1999 to Beth Ann Pawsey of Independence.

He is proceeded in death by his Father Eugene Smith in 2013. His Mother, Annelise resides in Avon Park, Florida.
He has two elder sisters, Diana Hinchey and Jeany Buck of Independence and a younger brother, Marty Smith of Blue Springs, Mo.
He has 4 nephews and 2 nieces and 4 grand-nieces, all of the family is local.

Many would describe him as a free-spirit and a very compassionate man. He saved two people’s lives that we know of and truly could a have a real connection to people.
He thoroughly enjoyed rock, blues and alternative music and concerts. He rode a Harley Davidson and had a passion for the outdoors, travelling and photography.
He was a loving father, brother, son and friend to so many of us. He has chosen not to have a formal service, yet wanted all of his friends and family to celebrate his life by remembering and sharing all the good times we had with him.
The Family is having a private Celebration of Life in his honor, per his wishes.
