Richard Eugene Smith, 70, Oak Grove, MO passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at his home.
Richard was born October 15, 1943 in Kansas City, MO the son of Richard Eugene and Maxine (Gunderson) Smith, Sr. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. Richard worked for a number of years as an iron worker, having worked on numerous bridges and stadiums throughout Kansas City. He was also a member of Iron Workers Local #10. For the past 30 years he operated Grain Valley Muffler with his wife, and served for 15 years on the Grain Valley Planning and Zoning Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Debbie Smith; daughters, Sara Wampler and her husband Jeff, Dorothy Bellipanni; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Maxine Hammer; brothers, Jacob and Michael Smith.
A celebration of Richard’s life will occur at a later date. His body will be cremated under the direction of Speaks Family Legacy Chapels.
