Roy Francis Smith, 67, Independence, MO passed away Monday, January 21, 2013.
A memorial visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Boy Scouts of America, Heart of America Chapter.
Roy was born May 9, 1945 in Atchison, KS the son of L. G. Sr., and Evelyn Marie (Winder) Smith. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 24 years as a Chief Petty Officer. Roy moved to Independence in 2000 with his wife Penny. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and cooking when he served as a Boy Scout Leader.
Survivors include his loving wife, Penny Smith of 37 years; son, Edward Michael Smith; daughters, Elizabeth Margaret Pagano, Debora Ann Bentley; grandchildren, Santina and Francesco Pagano, Susan Garis, Jack and Dustin Bentley; sisters, Mary Jean Ross, and Elizabeth Ann Novotny; brothers, L. G. Smith, Jr., Thomas Albert Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
