Leland L. Snider, 81, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, MO. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the Oakwood Baptist Church. Leland was born February 3, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to Twyman and Lela (Petree) Snider and has been a lifelong are resident. He graduated from William Chrisman High School and was immediately drafted and served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. He later graduated from junior college. He then worked as a buyer for Sears & Roebuck Company for a number of years until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed camping and fishing and was very devoted to his church. He was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, a member of Ball Club and sang in the church choir. He was married to Betty Johnson on June 12, 1948 and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage until she passed away on February 26, 2007. He is survived by; 2 daughters, Beverly Murphy and her husband Paul of Pleasant Hill, MO and Marilyn Copple of Blue Springs, MO; 6 grandchildren, Mike Murphy, Andrew Murphy, Brian Copple and his wife Ali, Amy Copple, Andrea Showalter and her husband Derek and Doug Copple and 4 great granddaughters, Hannah Copple, Shelby Copple, Kylie Steele and Charlee Showalter.
