Doris Helen Snow (Sarratt)

Doris Helen Snow, age 95, passed away Saturday, November 28th at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She was born in Genoa, Colorado on June 18th, 1920 to Bren and Lottie Sarratt. Helen was the youngest of five siblings. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1939 and married Charles Vernon Snow in 1940.
Helen worked for Lake City Ammunition Plant for 13 ½ years in Quality Control. She took early retirement in 1973 to help care for her mother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bren and Lottie Sarratt, her husband Charles Vernon Snow, her brother Amos Sarratt, and sisters Verneal Sarratt, Corlyn Sarratt and Adys Lewis.
Before moving to John Knox Village, Helen and her husband lived on 40 acres in rural Lee’s Summit. Helen loved living there. She enjoyed seeing a variety of wild life on the property and she especially enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. Her favorite hobby was collecting antiques. She spent many hours with her husband and family members scouting local antique shops and furnishing her home with them. She also loved animals and had several dogs and cats and even a pet mouse. She eventually moved into a house at John Knox Village, followed by a move to the Assisted Living Facility and eventually to the Care Center as her health declined.
Helen was lifelong member of the RLDS church and attended Second Church Congregation. Helen was a compassionate person and donated to many charities. She had a soft spot in her heart for the Native American peoples.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
