Bessie Marie (Lathwell) Speigle, was taken home by angels to her Heavenly Father February 26, 2013. Cremation. A graveside service will be at Mount Washington Cemetery in Indep., MO at 3 pm, Sat., March 16. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to South Crysler Restoration Branch in Indep., Washington Street Restoration Branch in Excelsior Springs, MO or Grace Hospice of Kansas City, MO.
She was born in Bear Lake, Michigan on May 7, 1913 where she later moved with her family to Ohio. She met Theodore James Speigle and they married Oct. 31, 1929. They lived in Lorain and later Elyria, OH for many years before moving to Independence, MO in 1976. Bessie and her husband were owners of Madera Creamery, Ted’s Dairyland and Ted’s Restaurant in Elyria and Bessie later retired from Singer Co. where she worked as a bookkeeper.
Bessie was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended the South Crysler Restoration Branch. Bessie loved her Heavenly Father and worked faithfully to serve Him. While in Elyria, she served as church organist for the Elyria RLDS Congregation as well as playing for the choir, funerals and weddings. She instilled the love of music in her children. She was deeply loved by her family and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, two sons: Theodore J. Speigle Jr. & Richard W. Speigle, and daughter, Karen M. Jackson. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and eight sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine A. Wright and husband, Lyle of Independence; two sisters, Rhodesa Molnar of Covington, GA & Doris Outland of Dunnellon, FL; ten grandchildren: Roger Speigle of Tualatin, OR; Daniel Speigle and Richard Speigle of Indep., MO; Jeffrey Wright of Grain Valley, MO; Teresa Howland of Greenwood, MO; Dean Stupp of Richmond, MO; Matthew Jackson of Rayville, MO; Laura Romazon of Lawson, MO; Kathy Ford of Indep., MO; and Dawn Jones of Windsor, MO; and nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
