Allene B. Srader
Allene B. Srader, 90, of Independence, died February 11, 2007 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel on Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. She was born in Hope, Kansas on August 11, 1916 the daughter of Henry and Bertha Bross Miller. Allene was a graduate of the Abilene High School. She married LeRoy Vearl Franklin and they owned and operated the I.G.A. Grocery Store in Abilene. He predeceased her while serving in World War II. She married Harold D. Srader on August 2, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2006. Allene was a Seamstress and specialized in the making of draperies and clothing. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence where she did volunteer work and taught Sunday School. Survivors include her two daughters, Catherine Ann Drake and husband Everett and Sally Sue Gulley all of Independence; five granddaughters, Debbie, Teffinie, Jackie, Susan and April and by eight great grandchildren, Justin, Christopher, Andrew, Devin, Caroline, Mason, Payton and Sebastian. Allene was also predeceased by her parents, and four sisters, Alice Watson, Helen Garbi, Henrietta Knoll and Daisy Hall.
