Irene Emily Stallings, 85, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Deafness Research Association.
Irene was born on April 14, 1926 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England, the daughter of Charles and Emily Young. She had worked for the Jones Store and as a secretary for Dr. Drummond Bowles Dental Office. Irene also volunteered at the Jackson County Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, painting and her dogs.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Charles Stallings in 2000; one sister; one brother and her parents. Survivors include her nephews, Ian Hawksworth and his wife Judith, and Rob Hawksworth; and great nephew, Derick Hawksworth.
