Everett W. Stanger, 92, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Lakewood Care Center. Everett was born July 20, 1917 to Chris and Florence Stanger in Doby Springs, OK. He attended from William Chrisman High School and joined the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, Everett began working for Armco Steel as a machinist and retired in 1979 after 33 years of service. He was a member and past commander of the VFW Post 1000, American Legion Post 21, Sixth Infantry Division, and United Steel Workers of America Local 13. Everett is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Ruth C. Stanger; son Ed Stanger and wife Kaye; daughter Carol Hotter and husband Robert; daughter Patricia Stanger; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; and granddaughter Dianna Stanger. Funeral Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 13 at the Chapelwith burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family requests no flowers, and memorial donations to either the VFW National Home, 3573 S.
